The idea behind Gluten Free Stays began with our first family holiday after our daughter Ella was diagnosed with coeliac disease.

We chose a hotel we loved, assuming there would be plenty of places nearby where we could all eat. It wasn't until we arrived that we realised how limited the choice actually was. We spent far too much of our holiday walking long distances to find suitable restaurants — time we'd rather have spent enjoying the beach together.

It completely changed the way we choose where to stay. Now, before we even look at hotels or apartments, we find areas with a good concentration of gluten-free restaurants within easy walking distance. Only then do we look for the best places to stay around them.

That's how we build every guide on Gluten Free Stays: restaurants first, accommodation second — because having plenty of choice nearby means less time searching, travelling or worrying about the next meal, and more time actually enjoying your holiday.
